So, some of us here at TeamLQD have caught the Dark Souls bug, and if you've ever looked at my first big piece I wrote on the souls series, then you'll know I'm a huge fan. But, the newest entry in the game is not without its flaws, particularly the graphics department. Today we'll take a look at my mods of choice and how to get them running and looking good.

The Mods of Choice

Let's start with the basics. The 2 mods we currently use are GEDOSATO and GEM. The first one, Gedosato, is actually an all purpose injector that uses sweetfx, designed to simply improve lighting, post processing, ssao, anti aliasing and more with easy to edit ini files. You can read more about it here. The other mod is GEM, another post processor that mixes nicely with GEDOSATO and ENB, however, you can use GEM on it's own as well.
With these mods installed we can get a much better look in the end, easily turning Dark Souls 2's embarrassing lighting into something more grim and in line with the early builds we were shown at E3 and TGS. In this article, I'll go over installing, editing, and providing the config I use in game. Let's get started!

GEDOSATO

Installation of GeDoSaTo is actually really simple. Once you've downloaded it, simply extract the GeDoSaTo folder inside (I chose the "downloads" folder). Once you've extracted it, you can begin editing the ini and fx files found inside. By default, Dark Souls 2 is already added to the whitelist of games, meaning it's all ready to work.
GeDoSaTo needs to be run before launching Dark Souls 2. Simply go to your GeDoSaTo folder, right click,  and run "GeDoSaToTool.exe" as administrator. Choose "Use Whitelist" and click activate- voila! Any settings that are turned to true in the gedosato.ini file will be available to toggle in game.

GEM

GEM installation is even more simple! Thankfully, all GEM files come with an installer that you can run that automatically installs it to your Dark Souls 2 game folder. Editing the files is actually really simple, even though it's a .txt file it does work.
Once installed, you can begin to edit the files. I have a few videos already uploaded, with 1 of them providing a walkthrough on how to get my settings.
And of course, I also have a video showcasing what my settings look like in game.
So there you have it, a really short and simple way to introduce modding and breathe fresh life into Dark Souls 2 for PC.If you have any questions please sound off below I'll be more than happy to answer them!

Hey, thank you for your explanation, very helpful What I would like to ask is: can GEM + ENB + GeDoSaTo all be used together and if so would you please give instructions?

Thank you in advance,

Andrew
